The Replacements // “Unsatisfied”

The dude who wrote AllMusic’s review for Ready To Die called Easy Mo Bee’s beats “samey”? What? Those beats are some of the best on the album you dumb cunt.

It’s strange how tracks like “Suicidal Thoughts” and “Who Shot Ya” were placed between “Unbelievable” and “Just Playin’”. It’s pretty genius, though. It’s like this album was Biggie’s farewell letter and he tried to end it on a positive note, despite the real emotional stuff towards the end. Also how “Juicy” and “Everyday Struggle” are back to back in the middle of the album. I’m telling you all, this album is so acclaimed for a reason.

You all don’t even understand the impact this album had on me in high school. I was still listening to almost exclusively hip-hop, but I was getting more into the deep and underground shit than before. I was also incredibly lonely and depressed (as many in high school are) and somehow listening to this album on repeat helped me get through it all.

Man, I used to hate “Respect” off Ready To Die. It’s actually a pretty good song. This album really has no mediocre song. Nineteen tracks that range from above-average to legendary. So good.

Just get over it and love it.

The Weeknd - “House of Balloons/Glass Table Girls”

This track (and mixtape, really) is a fucking masterpiece, I don’t care what y’all say.

Reblogging myself because there was no better transition in 2011 than the one in this song separating “House of Balloons” from “Glass Table Girls”. Subliminal bliss.
